As many say, perspective is everything. Ang ating perspektibo o pananaw (sa sinuman, saan man o ano pa mang bagay) na nahubog ng mga nakita, narinig, naituro at naranasan natin mula sa pagkabata ang nagmamaneho sa ating buhay kung paano tayo mag-de-desisyon, mag-iisip at kikilos. Thus, ang pananaw natin sa mundo (how we see the world) ang magdidikta sa atin kun paano natin gugugulin ang buhay natin dito sa mundo. If you see the world as your source of joy, happiness, satisfaction or success, you will surely love it and yield to what it offers. Ngunit sinasabi ng Salita ng Diyos: Huwag ninyong ibigin ang mundo o ang mga makamundong bagay. Ang umiibig sa mga ito ay hindi umiibig sa Ama (1 John 2:15 ASND). The word “world” (Gk. “kosmos”) used here refers to the affairs of the world: its pleasures, goods, riches and all its desires. [Other usages of “kosmos”: (1) the material earth or universe, the round world (2) the inhabitants/ people of the world. (Ex. God so loved the world…)]

Higit sa nakalipas na panahon, ang mundo ngayon ay may kapangyarihan o puwersa na hikayatin at bihagin ang bawat tao upang sumunod sa mga nasa nito (through these avenues: lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life). Marami ang sumusunod sa saliw ng tugtog ng mundo; hindi alam na ito ay patibong upang
ilayo ang ating isipan at puso sa Diyos. Many are being captivated by what it promises: money, food, clothing, cars, luxury of life, etc. At madalas, ito ang laman ng mga social media at pinag-uusapan ng karamihan. Ang nakakabahala, hindi napapansin ng marami, maging ng mga mananampalataya, na napapalapit na sila sa mundo. Habang itinatayo ng Diyos ang iglesia (as God builds the Church), ang kaaway ay nagtatayo din ng sistema sa mundo sa mabilis na kaparaanan upang ilayo ang mga tao sa Diyos. Naisip mo na ba, ano ang pinagkakaabalahan ng maraming tao ngayon?

Spiritual issues are no longer the topics of many conversations; kaya napakahalaga sa panahong ito na laging ipaalala ang kapangyarihan ng pagkapako ni Hesus sa krus – ito ay upang ilapit at magkaroon ng kaugnayan sa Diyos ang bawat tao, hindi kaugnayan sa mundo. 

Naitanong mo na ba ito sa sarili mo? “Sa tuwing ako ay naka-ugnay sa mundo (kumikilos ayon sa sistema ng mundo), paano naaapektuhan nito ang aking kaugnayan sa Diyos?” We, Christians, must be discerning enough to know when to draw the line (kung hanggang saan ang limitasyon ng bawat ginagawa natin sa mundo). Remember, we are IN the world, but we are not OF the world.

Tayo ay pinalaya na ni Hesus sa kapangyarihan ng bawat bumibihag sa atin sa mundo upang magpasakop sa kapangyarihan ng Diyos; ipamuhay natin kung sino tayo bilang mga bagong nilalang. Lumakad tayo sa espiritu, hindi sa laman. Hindi na tayo lapat sa kultura ng mundo; magdudulot lamang ito ng discomfort o di magandang pakiramdam (e.g. anxieties, fear) kung patuloy nating ilalapat ang ating buhay dito o kung ilalagak natin ang ating pagtitiwala dito. Tandaan, ang kultura ng mundo ay nakatuon lagi sa sarili (all about self): ang kahinaan, kabiguan, pagkukulang o hindi magandang imahen. O di kaya nama’y ang sariling kakayahan, lakas, kakisigan o kagandahan, karunungan o mga katangiang nagsasabing nakahihigit ka sa iba, ang nabibigyang pansin; subalit, alam natin na ang lahat ng ito ay pansamantala lamang.

Samantala, ang kaharian ng Diyos ay nakatuon kay Cristo at sa Kanyang ginawa (His finished work on the cross). Kung itutuon natin lagi ang ating mga mata sa Kanya (the author and finisher of our faith), ang lahat ng mga malabo sa ating paningin ay lilinaw. Siya (ang Salita) ang liwanag na tatanglaw sa ating dinadaanan
upang dalhin tayo sa layunin ng Diyos sa bawat buhay natin. May kaugnayan tayo sa Kanya; mga anak tayo ng Diyos; pagtiwalaan natin ang ating Ama. Gaano man ka-imposible ang iyong situasyon sa mata ng tao, sa mata ng Diyos ito’y posible. See it in your heart! Believe and you will see!
